Study of Chemistry at the Technische Universität München, Germany; 1961: Diploma in Chemistry; 1963: Dr. rer. nat. (PhD); 1968: Dr. med. habil. at the Medical Faculty of the LMU; 1974: appointment as Extraordinary Professor at the LMU in Munich; 1978: Full Professor of Clinical Chemistry and head of the Division of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry at the Department of Surgery (Downtown) at the LMU (until 2001). In 1974, he received the Carl Duisberg Award for outstanding scientific work in Medicinal Chemistry. In 1985, he was appointed Associate Member of the Institute Jožef Stefan in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He chaired the Sonderforschungsbereich SFB 51 and SFB 207 at the LMU from 1978-1996 (see also CV Prof. Dr. Graeff). From 1993-2008, he was Executive Editor of the scientific journal Biological Chemistry and since 1974 chief organizer of several international conferences and symposia on proteases and their inhibitors as well as kallikreins and kinins. He has authored > 420 scientific articles and has supervised more than 50 dissertations in the field of natural sciences and medicine.
